Irish Youth Hockey League

About the Irish Youth Hockey League
The Irish Youth Hockey League (“IYHL”) was organized in 1968 and was dedicated then as it is today to offering the youth in the South Bend and surrounding communities of Northern Indiana the opportunity to learn and enjoy the sports of ice hockey and figure skating. The league has grown from 50 boys that participated in 1968 to over 400 boys and girls today. The IYHL's season begins in August with our Learn-To-Play program, Conditioning clinics, and Travel Tryouts. Our Fall Camp starts in early September and League play begins early November and runs through mid-March.

2009 Mini-Mite/Soon to be Mites

Spring Program

An 8-week structured yet fun spring program for Mini Mites, those moving up to Mites and skaters from the winter Learn to Play session (Max age is 8 yrs old). Players will skate once per week participating in drills and scrimmages monitored by coaches from the Irish Youth Hockey League.  The 75 minute sessions will consist of drills designed to challenge the young skaters and scrimmages on a smaller surface to maximize touches of the puck in a fast and fun atmosphere. Maximum capacity is 30 participants.  The program will consist of 30 minutes of drills, along with 45 minutes of scrimmage time.  Ideally, the group of 30 skaters will be divided into three groups of 10 for all drills and scrimmages.
