The Irish Youth Hockey League

The Irish Youth Hockey League (IYHL) was organized in 1969 and was dedicated then as it is today, to offering the youth in South Bend and surrounding communities of Northern Indiana the opportunity to learn and enjoy the sport of ice hockey and figure skating.  The league has grown from 50 boys that participated in 1968 to over 400 boys and girls today.  Read More.....


Spring Hockey---Register at The Ice Box or Online

The IYHL will be offering Spring Hockey this year in coordination with Notre Dame.  There will be a total of 4 options depending on the age of player.  You can register at the Ice Box Sunday, March 10th from 3-5pm or visit the Compton Family Ice Arena website to register for the programs.  

  • Select "Hockey" at the Drop Down Box to view all available programs.


Each program will consist of 20 sessions.  10 "Skill and Drill" held at Notre Dame and 10 "Games" held at the Ice Box.  Days on the ice will depend on the age of the player.

Rental Gear Return

Rental gear return will be held on Sunday, March 10th from 3:00pm to 5:00pm at the Ice Box.  ALL equipment must me returned on this date.  If you are planning on participating in Spring Hockey, the equipment must be re-rented at this time as well.  Any questions, please contact Drew Herendeen.


Spring General Membership Meeting

The IYHL Spring Membership Meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 19th from 6-8pm at The Ice Box.  A season recap will be given as well as elections for the Board of Directors.  If you are interested in running for the Board, please notify Chris Kleva with a brief bio on yourself prior to the meeting.  There are 5 seats available to fill this year.
