Affordability & Access
Our Commitment to Families
At the Irish Youth Hockey League, we recognize that hockey is one of the highest-cost youth sports, often requiring families to make significant financial investments in equipment, ice time, and travel. We understand that these costs can create real barriers for families who want their children to experience the excitement, teamwork, and lifelong benefits that hockey provides.
Our Board of Directors is committed to making the game more accessible to all families. To help break down financial barriers and ensure that every child has the opportunity to participate, we offer needs-based scholarships each season. These scholarships are designed to support families who may need assistance with registration fees or other essential costs associated with participating in the League.
The Irish Youth Hockey League believes that passion, effort, and love for the game — not financial means — should determine who gets to step on the ice. Our goal is simple: to open the door for more young athletes to join our community and grow through the sport we all love.
How to Apply
When applications open each season, a link to the application form will be available below. Families are encouraged to apply as early as possible. Applications submitted after the deadline will still be considered if new or unexpected circumstances arise during the course of the season — no family should feel it is too late to reach out.
All applications are kept strictly confidential and are reviewed by the Scholarship Committee on a case-by-case basis, subject to the available scholarship budget for the season. Scholarships are not guaranteed. Awards may include a combination of registration fee reductions, complimentary equipment rentals, or other applicable benefits, at the sole discretion of the Scholarship Committee.
